Or is the thought of looking great in a bathing suit a more powerful motivator for you? Would you like to feel more confident in public? Less self-conscious about your weight? You've thought about them many times, in the back of your mind, but have you ever written them down? (It doesn't matter what other people think you should do or want you to do; Write down what you think and what you want.) Now... here's the next part of this "assignment" and it will require some thought and imagination and a little creative daydreaming: Describe in detail the YOU you would like to be... as if you have already achieved it! Pretend that it is now January 2003. Describe the changes that have taken place in your body, your health, your feelings.... maybe even the challenges and struggles required to "get to where you are now." Look ahead in time, then "look back" and describe all the reasons WHY you are glad that you "stuck with it and succeeded at losing weight." Take some time to think about this. Use as much paper as you need. You may learn a lot. The more vivid your imagination, the easier it will be for you to see your future success... and then to set about making it happen. Part three... keep your finished "assignment" in a special place and read it often, especially when you feel tempted to avoid exercising. We all have those days when we need a little extra motivation! Add to your list as you gain new insights. It will become a journal of your dreams and progress -- the story of your Success!
