"My name is Debby. I am 48 years old, married for 29 years, mother of 2 and grandmother of 2.
I wanted to share with you (and perhaps others if you want to use anything from this letter), the changes I have been making that have made a real difference in how I am motivated to do Oxycise! daily and make other lifestyle changes that would produce the permanent results I want to see.

"I am a very visual learner. In order for me to really learn a concept and 'get it', I need to get the concept or principle into some kind of picture in my mind that simplifies the concept and make it crystal clear to me.

"So, as I read the editorial in the 02/12/02 OxyChat newsletter ('Light Your Fire With Oxycise!'-- Editor's note: click on www.oxyciseplus.com/Newsletters/02_02b.htm  to read the article), I began picturing in my mind a woodburning stove and the process of building and stoking that fire to keep a house warm. I just began to let my mind run with that picture for a while. I then pictured the woodburning stove as my body's metabolism. From there, I began to think about the process I go through on a daily basis to stoke that fire. How efficiently and how long it really burned throughout the day depended on choices I made from the moment I woke up to the time I went to bed. So, I realized it was no wonder I had only little spurts of energy and was usually drained by the end of the day. It was no wonder that I wasn't seeing any real results from doing Oxycise! that I wanted to see. The fire of my metabolism was not being maintained well at all because of choices I was making every day to 'slow down the burn of the fire.'

"I got interested in doing Oxycise! because of the need to get more oxygen to my eyes. I have had a degenerative retinal condition since I was 30 years old and have had to go into a Hyperbaric Chamber on six occasions in order to increase the oxygen in the blood flow to my eyes. I was losing blood flow to my retinas and it was hoped that by increasing the amount of oxygen in the blood, it would prevent further sight loss. So, it wasn't really about weight loss or toning up muscles, but oxygen that got me interested.

"But, by doing Oxycise!, I began to notice some muscle tone returning. I was developing some muscle definition I had not seen in many years. I read about other people seeing pounds come off, but I was not seeing any change in my weight even after doing Oxycise! for months. I had added weight loss and a more toned body to my reasons for doing Oxycise! now.

"So, it was time for some seriously truthful soul-searching and time to make some 'decisions for real change', as I had been doing Oxycise! for some months, but not really with any type of daily consistency or 'gusto'.

"First and foremost was the decision to get the fire going well each morning by doing Oxycise! first thing every morning. I view it as stirring up the metabolism coals to get a good strong fire burning to start the day.

"Then I looked closely and honestly at my routine each day. I asked myself what was I doing throughout each day that either put more energy into the metabolism fire to keep it going strong OR what was I doing that was, in essence, putting some amount of water on the fire and slowing down the burn of my metabolism fire. These are some things I came up with:

1. The foods/snacks I choose to eat throughout the day either add to or decrease the burn of my metabolic fire.

2. The amount of water I drink each day is important to the metabolic fire (I was not a water drinker and often existed on 2 cups of coffee and 1-2 cans of Diet Coke as my fluid consumption for the day).

3. (Most people would not admit this if they do it) I had been a moderate smoker for many years, but had basically quit several years ago. But, I still smoked 1-2 cigarettes per day. As I looked at that, I determined that it was counter-productive to putting oxygen into my body and then (even if it was only 1 cigarette per day) doing something that was robbing my body of that oxygen I had worked to get in there.

4. I have had a very sedentary job as a typist for the past 3 years. I used to be a Registered Nurse until I was declared legally blind in 1984. I realized I needed to do things throughout my day at work that would keep the fire burning that was started at 6:30 each morning. So, I make an effort to get in as much Oxycise! as I can throughout the workday. I do Oxycise! breathing repetitions at various times throughout the day - on breaks, at lunch, in the bathroom, etc. I look for opportunities to flex, extend and stretch my muscles throughout the day. It's amazing how many opportunities there are to work those muscles if you are aware of it - I do Oxycise! in the shower, I stand up straight and pull in those abs and buns real tight when brushing my teeth, I do hamstring stretches and bun squeezes at my desk when I type. The more I thought about it, the more active my day became.

"I like feeling energized and seeing and feeling tight muscles. I used to have a really flat butt, no muscle tone at all and I had what I called my 'fat inner tube' around my abdomen and hips. Slowly but surely, I am seeing shape in my buns and the inner tube is decreasing. It's good to feel tighter, firmer muscles where fat used to reign supreme.

"Well, I did not intend for this to be so long, but I wanted to share how a newsletter article made all the difference in transforming my thoughts and changing how I thought and worked at Oxycise! Thanks for all your efforts, they do not go unnoticed."
