I have all the Oxycise! tapes and except for Level 1, they have never been opened. I don't know why...just laziness I guess. I started the level 1 two years ago and I loved how it made me feel. Then I went back to school and with working full time and being the single mother of a teenager...it all just fell apart. So, here is my New Year's resolution (in the month of August), I am going to O! every [darn] day!! I am 37 yrs old and feel like I am 90! My 89 yr old grandmother gets along better than I do! Ok, there it is...in print. Now, who wants to hold me accountable?!? ; ) Lea Ann should have known better than to ask that question!) I just couldn't resist writing to her and telling her that we would be HAPPY to "hold her accountable!" I then asked if she would be willing to give a monthly report of her progress in our newsletter. I told Lea Ann that it would be very interesting to track someone's progress from start to finish, if she would be willing to participate. I asked what her fitness goals were and to let me know if she would be interested. Lea Ann graciously responded, "I know Oxycise! works. When I first got the tapes two years ago, I did it faithfully for a week. A friend of mine did it with me and we measured ourselves after one week and were amazed. I lost just over 1 inch in my waist, 2 inches in my lower abs and 1/2 inch off each thigh. Just think, If I had stuck with it then....I wouldn't need to be writing this now, ha ha! "Anyway, let me know how you want to start this and I will send you any information you need. Now I am really revved up and ready to go!" (We couldn't have asked for a more cooperative subject!) In the "Progress Reports" below you will see Lea Ann's initial "report" as she begins her quest for better health. I want to thank her for her willingness to help others by sharing her experiences with our OxyChat readers. Challenge -- Week ONE "Below are my measurements and weight as of today. I will be weighing and measuring myself every week only because that is the best way for me to keep track of myself. What I will do is send you an email every Sunday or Monday with my update and then you can choose what weeks you want to use, if that is alright with you. Also, since I have all of the Oxycise! tapes, do you want me to include what tapes I am doing? Weight: 295 lbs "I will keep monitoring my other stats also as far as sleeping, fatigue etc. I am really excited about this!!! I feel like a rat in a lab!! But in a good way, ha ha!" August 12, 2002 "I decided that when I have times when I hit a plateau, I am not going to get discouraged. I am going to realize that my body will catch up!!! "Today I started my journal so it will be easier for me to keep track of everything....food, exercise and feelings!!!" Lea Anne (TO BE CONTINUED...) * Individual results will vary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *** AMY *** (Amy is getting close to reaching her own Oxycise! goals. She gave us permission to share some of her comments from the Message Room.) "I have some exciting news to report!! I got on the scale this morning and I am down to 133!! 2 more pounds lost!! I had been at 135 for at least a month!! Anyway, just 8 more pounds to go 'til my goal. Let me tell you, when I get there I'm buying a HOT new outfit in a size 6 and I informed my hubby this morning that he will be taking me to a nice dinner to celebrate. My weight loss total now is at 17 pounds!! YIPPEE! When I reach my goal of 125 pounds, I'm also going to send before and after pics to Oxycise! I already have the 'before' picture and it's really scary!! Anyway, take care everyone and stick with it!! This program really works!!" Amy * Individual results will vary. Learning to do the Oxycise! Basic Breath is the next step. The more you practice breathing deeply and fully, the more aware you will become of your breathing during the day. You may "catch" yourself raising your shoulders to take a deep breath (instead of breathing with your diaphragm) but it will happen less and less as you become aware of it. You can do extra "reps" of the Basic Breath anytime you wish. In fact, it's a great way to relax, "de-stress", work your abs, and give your body extra oxygen all at the same. And by doing extra reps with real energy you can add a lot of extra calorie burning to your regular workouts. When you are sitting at the computer or traveling in the car, you can practice breathing in and out, deeply and slowly. Practice keeping your shoulders still. Let your abdomen relax and expand as you inhale, then "deflate" as you exhale. If you add the Oxycise! "Lift" on your exhales, it will give your abs extra toning.
