Strategy #1 -- Think long-term. Instead of trying to completely overhaul your body in a week or a month, realize that achieving--and maintaining--fitness is a lifelong commitment. Avoid unhealthy "diets" that drastically slash calorie intake and promise instant weight loss. Respect your body and treat it like the irreplaceable possession that it is. Weight lost through self-abuse and drastic measures will always come back later with a vengeance. For permanent results, give your body what it needs most: oxygen, water, exercise, and healthy foods. Aim for an average weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week -- it's much more likely to stay off that way. Remember, you're in this "for the long haul."

Strategy #2 -- Be honest.... are you ready to commit to losing weight for good? And are you doing it for yourself -or are you being pressured by others? This has to be something that YOU want. So decide what changes you want to make. Then create your plan for success and go for it!

Strategy #3 -- Take "baby steps." Try to do a little better each day than you have in the past at exercise, eating healthier ... whatever you decide to change. Take one step at a time. Go at YOUR pace. Don't think in terms of "never eating sweets or desserts again". If you really want a cookie, eat it and enjoy it. Then be responsible and honest about it... but "no guilt allowed." If you have 100 pounds to lose, make a short-term goal to lose just 10 pounds. Making small changes each day will lead to dramatic results in time.

Strategy #4 -- Be determined. Don't give up. Stick with your plan even if you don't see visible changes happening right away. Focus on how you feel when you exercise and how good it feels to follow through on your commitments to yourself! If you get side-tracked, just pick back up where you left off
and move on. Learn from your mistakes and keep your sights set on your goal.

Strategy #5 -- Last but not least, choose an exercise program that you enjoy enough to KEEP doing. Or alternate between several different activities that you enjoy.

"I have also found that doing Oxycise! everyday is challenging and yet we all know how wonderfully it works. I am 20 years old and not terribly overweight, but as of labor day I was 20 lbs over my maximum ideal weight. I started doing Oxycise! again and one week later I had lost 7 lbs. This time I have found something that has helped me a lot. I like to do Oxycise! first thing in the morning, but let's face it, who wants to get out of bed in the morning even if it is only 15 min. early. After work it seems like once I have any free time (after dinner, cleaning up, etc.) all I want to do is watch TV. So I have started doing Oxycise! while I watch TV. I use the list that came with the kit to make sure I am not missing any steps and I count my breaths on my fingers so that I make sure to do all of them.
