In June of 2001, Rhonda Powell wrote:

"Dear Jill,
I have been Oxycising for 8 weeks now. I started 4/18/01. I cannot begin to tell you the wonderful changes that I have seen in my body. In February of 2001, I was at an all time low. My blood pressure was skyrocketing, I was severely overweight, suffering panic attacks, high blood sugar levels, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and a host of other physical ailments. "Up to 35 percent of cancers are related to dietary habits," says John Milner, chief of nutritional research at the National Cancer Institute.

That doesn't mean an occasional cheeseburger or doughnut is dooming. But study after study links lifelong diets high in plant foods to lower cancer rates. Also, people who eat lots of fruits and vegetables generally are skinnier. Obesity increases risks of cancers of the uterus, gallbladder and possibly colon and prostrate, while a large weight gain after reaching adulthood is linked to breast cancer.

Scientists now are trying to find out which of the myriad nutrients and chemicals in different foods are the most protective against cancer -- and why, at a genetic level, they do the job.

In last week's newsletter we featured a Progress Report contributed by Jane, who just turned 68 last Friday. Jane mentioned that she tries to do 250 "sets" of Oxycise! each day.

A few readers wrote, asking what Jane meant by "sets". Is a set the same as a "rep" (4 Oxybreaths)? We weren't sure either, so we emailed Jane. She responded:

"A set of 100 is 100 breaths with positions ie: maybe I'll do 1 position x 10 breaths, concentrated on problem areas. So if I do 250 breaths, that's 25 positions, 10 breaths each This works well for me rather than 4 reps per position. Kinda invented my own specialized workout for my body... sounds confusing but isn't when u think it thru."
