They have learned by experience that their lives are better with Oxycise! Carol writes, In a message room post Melodie wrote: If we are having trouble "finding the time" for Oxycise! or having trouble staying "on track," it could be that fitness and weight loss are just not the top items on our "agenda" right now. It may be time to honestly re-evaluate our priorities and desires and wait until we are more ready to pursue those goals. The following story illustrates the importance of
desire: Socrates put his strong hands on the man's shoulders and pushed him under. Thirty seconds later Socrates let him up. "What do you want?" he asked again. "Wisdom," the young man sputtered, "O great and wise Socrates." Socrates crunched him under again. Thirty seconds passed, thirty-five. Forty. Socrates let him up. The man was gasping. "What do you want, young man?" Between heavy, heaving breaths the fellow wheezed, "Knowledge, O wise and wonderful..." Socrates jammed him under again Forty seconds passed. Fifty. "What do you want?" "Air!" he screeched. "I need air!" "When you want knowledge as you have just wanted air, then you will have knowledge." (M. Littleton in Moody Monthly, June, 1989, p. 29.) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Oxycise! can help anyone have a more toned, fit, shapely, more slender body. The "cost" is just fifteen minutes a day. How bad do we want it? ************************** "I just started the Oxycise! program...again, but this time I intend to stick with it. I get up earlier in the morning so that I may start the day doing O!, and it both energizes me and helps me to be more relaxed throughout the day. I have a job that is super busy and stressful this time of year, and I started doing O!, not only for the physical benefits, but also because it really does help to relieve the stress of the job. I wake up each morning looking forward to doing O! and knowing that in 20 minutes I will be fully awake, energized, and ready to start the day... "I enjoy reading the newsletters every week, as they provide me with some much needed encouragement. I thank you for your dedication to those of us who are trying to make some very important changes to our health." Sincerely, Additional Comments from Mary Anne - "Sure, go ahead and share my thoughts on O! "So far, what has been different about this time is that, although I have a long-term goal, I am focusing on the short-term one. I focus on doing O! every day for a week. That way, one week will lead into the next, which leads into the next, and so on...Before I have even realized it, O! will have become a part of my everyday routine. Also, rather than focusing on the weight loss and getting all stressed out about it, I am focusing first on the health benefits-the greater vitality, relaxation (more immediate) and the lowering of my blood pressure levels (which will come with time). I have always had excellent blood pressure levels, but I've found that during this first busy and stressful season on my new job, my levels have gone up for the first time. This really alarmed me so, after reading in your newsletters about how it has helped others with worse blood pressure problems than me, I really wanted to start back on Oxycise and give it a real chance to work for me. I have also ordered a copy of Jill's "Chart Your Success" book so that I can set my goals on paper and really chart it. Because I have started and stopped Oxycise! on several occasions, I didn't want to stress myself out by taking all kinds of measurements, etc., but I can tell you that, after almost 2 weeks of doing O!, I have noticed that my pants aren't as snug around my middle. More importantly, I am more aware of my breathing (or lack thereof) and will stop to take some deep, relaxing breaths, rather than continue the shallow breathing. "I have a long way to go yet, but I will get there. I love the support that you and Jill have always offered to both myself and to others. You really have a genuine desire to help us and I want to thank you for it." Mary Anne ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Feedback re. January 30th article, "Thinking Thin" I agree with the thought that if you believe your
being overweight and out of shape is a result of your own choices, you will be
much more successful in losing weight, getting in shape and staying in shape.
When I stopped looking for someone else to blame or some reason why I just could
not take off 30 lbs or stay on an exercise program for more than a week and took
responsibility for my own choices and actions, then and only then did I see real
results. I think it's human nature to look for someone else to blame and then we
don't have to take responsibility - it's their fault, not mine. But it's me who
was eating whatever and whenever I wanted and it was me who would rather sleep
in or do anything else but exercise daily. "As a man thinks in his heart, so he
is." Makes sense to me. If I keep thinking in my heart that someone or
something else is to blame, then I'm free to keep on being the way I am (was)-
overweight and out of shape. This idea of taking responsibility for my own
choices has also helped me in many other areas of my life. If we could all just
stop shifting the blame, or looking for some escape clause or loophole we'd be a
lot better off, don't you think. My daughter has also been teaching this to her
two children - you make choices, and if you made the choice to do or not do
something, then accept the responsibility for it. Wish I had learned this as a
young child. Anyway, thanks for another thoughtful newsletter! Debby ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jill Johnson Julie Gudmundsen, *************** Welcome to the OxyChat! Newsletter, a weekly publication to help you in your quest for the body you want and deserve! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Breathe in...breathe out. That's how success begins! *************************************** Don't despair. We realize that some of you are so busy that even 30 reps may seem like a marathon at times. But why not take a few deep breaths right now, as
you read the newsletter? Now do it again, but this time add the other steps: Relax and inhale deeply. Great! Now don't you feel more alive and awake? Repeat those same steps 3 more times and you've
finished a whole rep! It only takes about 30-seconds to do one Oxycise! rep and "recharge" your body with extra oxygen. I challenge you to try it a few times each day! You might be surprised how much Oxycise! you can actually do, by just doing a little "here and there" and how much good even small "doses" of extra oxygen will do your body! Remember that ANY reps you do during the day count toward your 30-per-day total. They don't have to be done at one time. We were pretty amazed at what one customer was able to accomplish by doing just a few reps a day (See Robert's story below). And while his results are not typical, SOME Oxycise! every day is definitely better than NO Oxycise! So even if you can't do a whole workout every day, do something! :-) Remember to breathe! ************************** *** ROBERT *** Last July we received a pretty amazing letter from R. W. Hatton, a 68-year-old Emeritus Professor from Ohio, who achieved fantastic results doing just 12 reps a day, divided in three separate segments, using only four different Level One body positions. He wrote, We were surprised that even though Robert was doing less than half of the recommended minimum number of 30 reps per day, he was still able to achieve great results! Robert mentioned feeling "a more positive
attitude about some aspects of my life," and added, "I am confident
that my entire body has benefited in a variety of ways despite my limited
workouts. The cumulative result of these three short sessions per day over the
past eight months, in addition to the loss of pounds and inches, has been a
68-year-old body blessed with increased strength, energy, agility, endurance and
expanded lung capacity brought about through a more healthful oxygen/carbon
dioxide exchange..." We were excited to receive an update from Robert last week! February 8, 2003 "After our exchange of correspondence last July, I continued to combine a sensible diet with a three-times-a-day regimen of [the same four body positions mentioned in the first letter]. By November 1, 2002, I had lost a total of 40 pounds from that date one year earlier. Since that time I have continued to consume a reasonable amount of food each day while doing the four positions just once a day for maintenance purposes. I might add here that I do not engage in any other form of exercise. My weight remains at 165 pounds and, thanks to Oxycise!, should never be a problem again. Sincerely, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ “What is it about dieting that makes it so hard to lose weight?” "The fat-burning capacity of the body slows down during dieting partly because of a decrease in lean body mass, muscle. Nearly half of the weight loss in dieting comes from muscle. For instance, a twenty-pound weight loss from dieting may include seven pounds of muscle. Because most fat is burned in muscle tissue, muscle loss decreases the body's ability to get rid of fat from fat cells. "Also, a decrease in metabolic rate and a loss of muscle causes feelings of fatigue, which may be another attempt of the body to conserve energy. In any case, many obese people are less active than their normal-weight peers. "Finally, dieting causes enzyme changes that help the body store fat. Studies have shown that adipose tissue lipoprotein lipase--a fat-storing enzyme--increases dramatically when we cut calories. The body thus becomes a more efficient fat storer than it was before." Exercise: The Key to Weight Loss "Exercise changes the enzymes of the muscle system to be more effective in burning fat. Research with long-distance runners has shown that oxidative enzymes are increased dramatically as a result of moderate aerobic exercise. These changes make it much easier to lose fat stores because of the increased ability of the muscles to burn fat. "Other advantages of exercise include a moderation of the insulin response and the release of a chemical called endorphine that makes us feel good. Obviously, then, exercise is a critical part of the weight control process." Newsletter, a weekly publication to help you in your quest for the body you want and deserve! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "I have been doing O! for about 2 years now. I just love it. Every time I get a little lazy with the daily routine my hips and especially my stomach start pooching out again. But it amazes me how quickly it all responds when I get back to a regular schedule." ~ Rose H. ****************************************** 2/23/03 "Dear Julie, "After the holidays, being heavier then I had ever been in my life, I decided I needed to do something. The new year came and into the middle of January I was still procrastinating. Around 1/21/03 I was visiting my daughter and telling her I needed to do something and felt the best thing to do was commit to doing Oxycise! everyday for a month to see if it really worked. She was coming to my house in a month so I asked her to take my measurements and at the end of the month I'd see what would happen. Knowing that I had made a commitment I started faithfully doing the 15 minute Oxycise! Level 2 tape each morning before work and doing a few reps throughout the day as time permitted. The first two weeks were going great, I was eating more sensibly, doing my Oxycise! and feeling better. Then my birthday came along and I had lunch dates, birthday cake, etc. and was getting a little nervous as the time for my daughter's visit was fast approaching. Even though I had not done as well as I would have liked with my eating, I had remained faithful to "O". "You can't believe how happy I was when I got on the scale and was down 4 pounds, but best of all when Kristy did my measurements I had lost 2-1/2" around the waist, 2" around the hips, and a 1/2" from the upper arms and thighs. I am just thrilled and have committed to another month of Oxycise! I feel that taking baby steps and setting short term goals works best for me. "I want to thank you for the weekly newsletters as it gives me a lot of encouragement and I know that if I take that short time out of my day I can achieve the results I want. My short term goals are to do Oxycise! every day and eat better. My long range goal is to lose 50 pounds. I will keep you posted." The best being that my blood pressure and cholesterol levels have dropped tremendously. For a while, the Dr. thought I may have to go on medication. When I started getting very serious about my Oxycise! routine, my health improved drastically and when I went back to the Dr. for a checkup, she said she couldn't believe the results of my test, after only two weeks. Oxycise! and good healthy eating has helped me to get my health under control without any medication. I thank God and Jill for this wonderful program. Oxycise works!!"
