I have been a faithful Oxyciser for three years. My husband has been on and off even though Oxycise! has worked for him. Go figure! Well...a few months back during his annual physical, his blood sugar was well above normal. His doctor told him to come back in six months and to lose l0 pounds (or else.) Since that time, my husband has been doing Oxycise! faithfully. I Oxycise! every day and so I encourage him as much as I can to get his l5 minutes done when he comes home from work and I actually do several reps with him for my own good. Actually, I don't have to say anything to him at all....he starts his routine on his own. I am happy to report that this week he returned for his follow-up visit and he lost his l0 pounds and his blood sugar was "significantly" reduced. He goes back in 3 months for another follow-up. I AM VERY PROUD OF HIM. Oh, his doctor challenged him again to lose another l0 pounds before his next visit! I'll let you know...

"Julie, I am very excited about the Oxycise! program. I have always fought a weight problem and have taken blood pressure medicine for years. But, when my doctor told me during my last physical that my blood sugar test was l65 (80 to l30 is normal), I knew I had to do something about it. He challenged me to lose l0 pounds. I began to Oxycise! every day and 90 days later had lost the l0 pounds. My blood sugar reading dropped to l26. I am on my second l0 pounds now and will stay with it until I am at my goal weight. The alternative would be diabetes and the problems that go with that. I can only encourage other husbands to try Oxycise! It is very easy and only takes about fifteen to twenty minutes each day. QUESTION: "Is it necessary to supplement Oxycise! with additional exercises?"

"Any safe movement is always fine to do. However, if you do Oxycise! with lots of gusto and enthusiasm, you will get an aerobic workout. If you like your other aerobics, then by all means continue. It certainly won't interfere with Oxycise!

"Here's a suggestion: Do the Oxycise! Basic Breath while you're doing those other activities, and you will gain even greater benefit from them. Remember: Oxygen is the key! Many athletes have used Oxycise! to enhance their athletic performance."

"But if you're dragging yourself to the gym out of guilt, then drop it and focus on Oxycise!

"I don't do any other 'official' exercise and stay in great health -- finding that when I participate in recreational sports I do well . . . even better than others who spend a lot of time at the gym. You see, Oxycise! teaches you to feed your body oxygen, rather than wait until your muscles are in oxygen debt and then you gasp for air (which most sports rely on).

"Hi Julie,
I really just wanted to pass on my experience with Oxycise! in hopes that it would encourage others to not give up! As you may remember, I severely sprained my ankle back in August and was unable to do my Oxycise routine (I was on Level 3). I was able, however, to do the breathing part while sitting on my couch and keeping track of my reps. I also added in some pec presses, pulls and arm reaches. I was able to put all my energy into the breathing technique and really get it perfected. Eventually, I was able to do the standing and some floor positions. I am slowly working my way back to the full routine.

"I found out for myself how important healthier eating is if you want to see great results. For a long time, I stubbornly refused to give up my favorite snacks which included ice cream and potato chips. However, I was still getting some other great results from Oxycise! My energy improved and I was sleeping better, but I did not notice any weight or inch loss. I finally wised up and cut out the daily ice cream and chip fix and have felt my clothes getting much roomier. I recently had a medical checkup and my weight was up. I was excited about it, can you believe it! I knew that the weight gain was due to increased muscle, which means all that fat doesn't stand a chance! I don't want people to be discouraged by weight gain when they are Oxycising regularly. It just means that they are building lots of fat-burning muscle.

"Also, I want to encourage people who may be unable to do a full Oxycise! routine because of a physical issue, such as my sprained ankle. You don't have to do the complete routine to get the benefits. Do whatever positions you can. If you can only do the breathing (along with the tummy lift/bun tightening), you're doing a great thing for your body. In fact, I recommend practicing just doing that part of Oxycise! every day for a week or so in order to really make sure you've got it down pat. Follow along with Jill in the videos as she explains the breathing technique. Then, if you want, breathe along with the workout and do whatever positions you can. I used the list of positions that comes with each video to keep track of my reps (they're great when you are traveling, too).

"I wanted to mention something that helps me when I Oxycise! I like to exercise first thing in the morning, before I eat, so I can concentrate on my body instead of my digestion, but water alone doesn't provide a lot of staying power. When I juice a melon or cantaloupe or some other fruit and drink that before working out, I have lots of energy without that feeling of fulness. Between that and Oxycising I have energy bouncing off the walls for the rest of the morning!"

"It is hard to believe that 15 minutes a day of deep breathing and simple isotonic, isometric and stretching exercises will help you lose weight (if needed) and stay in shape. But I am living proof that it does. (Because my mother and sister gained weight around their stomach as they aged, I accepted this eventuality as part of my genetic makeup and destiny. The longer I do Oxycise!, the more fat and inches I lose around the middle.) I just wish that I had discovered this routine years ago. I know that there are many folks that this would help. (Busy people who do not have a great deal of time to devote to exercise, or do not want to go to a gym, and who have tried and failed at "dieting.") But most important, this simple routine is of great value even if you do not need to lose weight!

This is my testimony. I have struggled with weight on and off for as long as I can remember. I've tried it all, as have so many...I was so tired and feeling sicker physically by the day...I went to the doctor, sure that the high blood pressure medication was making me sicker than I needed to be. So, he told me to take an aspirin a day to prevent a heart attack or stroke...he also told me to double up on my blood pressure medication and come back when I was finished and he'd put me on estrogen as well...at this point I weighed 250 lbs and was a tight size 46...but he also told me when I questioned him about the pills that I might as well forget about losing weight because this is what happens to women over 50..."

"Since I got my tapes I have gone from the tight 46 down to a 42-- in some cases 40-- as far as sizes go. I have lost fat from all over. When I started my waist had gone somewhere...now I actually have one back. My face, which had disappeared into a mass of chins more like one fat blob, has actually taken on bone structure once again. I've lost about 3 inches off my bust, at least 4 off of my hips...thighs and buns and arms about 3 inches...I even lost a ring size...and I've not changed anything I eat...

"My husband who took early retirement this past January is 55 and started doing it too. He has lost his middle pouch, and also lost off his face and neck. Now, we do it together in the morning and I do it again at night.

"At first I ordered the tapes because I didn't care how or why it worked, I just wanted to get doing it. But now people are coming up to me and asking, 'What have you been doing?' and when I tell them "Breathing', they look at me like I'm nuts. So I ordered the book and commuter tape this time.

"Today, I am 52 years young and not afraid that each day may very well be my last. This is one Gramma who is energized and enjoying every minute of losing unwanted lbs and inches.

A few years a new visitor to our website posted a question on our message board, asking other customers if they thought she should try Oxycise! Here's the response she received from Sue Madal...

"Oxycise!, in my opinion, is the best workout I've ever done and I was a certified exercise instructor for 12 years. You get the great health benefits without all the stress on the joints - perfect for those who suffer with joint problems. I have been Oxycising for a year now and would not give it up for the world. I haven't been sick during that time which is a great help to my immune system. If I get any type of infection it can trigger a flare up so it's very important that I stay as healthy as possible.... I haven't had a flare up in over a year (coincidence I think not) and even if I did, I could still Oxycise!

"I weigh about 133 and am 5'5". That is a good weight for me and I wouldn't want to go below 128. I have pretty much stayed the same weight since I lost my initial 12-15 pounds. However, if I don't do Oxycise! for a few days I start to feel blah and flabby.

"Oxycise! even healed my recti split that I developed while pregnant with my first child. All the careful ab work during my 12 years teaching aerobics never healed the split. Oxycise! did though. My abs are really, really hard and I don't do any traditional abdominal work.

"As a fitness professional the dynamics of Oxycise! make perfect sense to me and if someone likes to still do traditional workouts, Oxycise! can enhance their endurance and strength.... Even if you're just sitting in a chair you can still do the breathing. I do the audio tape in my car every day while driving to work. It gives me energy for my day.

"Let's see what else can I tell you. I sing much better after Oxycising because it gets my lungs working properly and really warms up my vocal cords. I have osteoarthritis in my left knee and have minor bone deformity. If there is a particular leg position that is uncomfortable for my left leg, I just modify it. I have only had problems with Jill's "hurdler" stretch because I have to bend my knee back and it's uncomfortable. So, I don't do that one.

"I highly recommend you try this program. It's inexpensive and they return it if you don't like it. Oh, I went from a size 11 to a size 6 in about 2-3 months. I can't remember exactly, except I know when I tried on my old shorts last summer they were all too big so I had to go buy some size 6's. Not bad considering I never wore under a size 8 when I was teaching up to 9 classes/week. If you try it, make sure you understand the breathing completely because that is the key. Watch Jill carefully and be dedicated to this program. If you do it, it will work. If you don't, it won't. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing."

"Hi Julie----Have been doing 'Easy Does It' Level One since March of 2003. Have lost 26 lbs and a total of 18 inches overall. I do Oxycise! twice a day and walk 1 mile at the mall 3 times a week. I am 79 years old and feel great. I would recommend Oxycise! to any senior person . I have Level Two and will be starting it in Jan. Please note I haven't changed my eating habits."

"Dear Jill,
I was down for the count. I broke my ankle in three places and had a steel plate put in. After 1 year, I still couldn't walk like I used to. I gained 30 plus pounds. In the meantime, I had a problem with my neck which also prohibited me from lifting weights. What a great way to face turning 50. But it gets better...I then started to get hot flashes and night sweats.

"I had the Oxycise! tapes from before, but the positions were not good for my leg. I called to see if you had created any others. They told me about the 'Easy Does It' Series. I started using the first level. The second day, I noticed I slept through the night. It was a deep wonderful sleep. In 3 days, my skin, which has always been good, turned flawless. In 5 days, my hot flashes were reduced almost 95%. I started to weigh myself, but saw no change, so I stopped getting on the scale. My ankle, which would be painful at the end of the day, stopped aching. I thought it might not be connected to the Oxycise! exercises, and when I stopped for two days, the pain came back. The pain stopped the next time I did the exercises.

"I have been discouraged, but your newsletters are wonderful. They kept me going. I haven't measured myself, but because of the encouragement from the newsletter, will start. In the meantime, after 14 sessions, two pairs of pants I used to wear are so big I can't wear them anymore. Another pair are loose. I really want to fit into my former clothes. I just hope I keep on shrinking. I do want to hear from people on how they are doing. It is very encouraging. I didn't connect my ankle with the Oxy exercises, until I read about a women with knee problems."

EDITOR'S NOTE: Like Karen, not everyone sees immediate changes on the scale. Some individuals gain some extra muscle weight and lose fat at the same time. But a gain of muscle is good news (you will burn more calories) and inch loss and/or looser clothing is always a good sign that you are burning excess fat. So if you have a pair of pants in your closet that don't quite fit, keep on breathing -- and keep checking to see how things are fitting!

2004.... a brand new year!

This is when millions of people resolve to become more physically fit, give up bad habits and change their lives for the better. Most of us know what we would like to improve in our lives. And we probably know what we need to do to make it happen. But it takes real effort to make any kind of change -- even if it's a change for the better. It's human nature to "hang on" to old habits, and even if we do decide to make a "once and for all change," we tend to want results NOW -- or at least by next week!

Don't get discouraged when results don't happen immediately. Think big, but work small -- by taking one day at a time. Small daily changes will lead to big results as those days stretch into weeks and months. Just look how fast the year 2003 flew by... and think where you could be a year from now if you make a few little positive changes every day.

Start mentally writing your own Oxycise! "Success Story"! But also pace yourself, evaluate your progress, and stay determined. Don't give up halfway up the "mountain" just because you suddenly realize that you still have a long way to go. Instead, look back and see how far you've come!! And if you happen to "lose your footing" and slide backwards a little, don't despair. Just get up and keep going. Climbing a mountain -- or reaching a goal -- is hard work! But the "view" from the summit -- and the sense of accomplishment -- is unbeatable!

Shannon Entin, Editor of the FitnessLink newsletter, gives excellent advice for "enjoying the journey" on the way toward a fitness goal: "Focus on the positive and hold on to the feelings of exhilaration, relaxation, and empowerment that you feel when you do exercise. Plan to make modest improvements that can stick.... Balance and planning are the keys to success."

It is our hope that before you set out to pursue your goals and "take on the world", that you will first sit back and plan out your journey. If your goal is to become more fit, lose excess fat, or maintain your current fitness level, then Oxycise! can help you achieve your goal. It has been WONDERFUL...I have decreased from a tight size 16 pants to a comfortably fitting size 14. The last time I was in a size 14 pants was when I weighed a good 15 pounds less than I do now. That is how I know it is the Oxycise! and not just the diet I am on. "I just marked my one year anniversary of doing Oxycise! on a regular basis. What a difference it has made in the way I feel! I first started Oxycise! in the fall of 2000, but didn't do it on a steady basis. Seeing pictures of myself taken at my daughter's wedding in December of that year made me realize I HAD to do something about my weight! After much procrastination, I began Oxycising at least one a day, six days a week on March 1st of last year. The goal I set for myself was to be able to fit into the only formal dress I own by March of this year (for an event I would attend that I knew would require one).

Some of you may be thinking, "I have so much weight to lose... how can I
possibly succeed? How can I go from where I am now to where I would like
to be?"

Impossible, you say? Not at all! Just look at the problem in a new way.
Don't think of having to lose twenty or fifty or a hundred pounds all at
once. Just take one pound at a time, one day at a time. (One Oxycise!
workout at a time, one breath at a time!) The key to success is consistent
effort, day by day.
