*A* Success in the Making!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For this week's editorial I thought it would be fun to highlight the
progress of one of the STARS of our website OxyChat Message Room,
Michelle, better known as "joyfulmama." Michelle is well on her way to
success and I know she won't mind if I share some excerpts from some of
her posts on our board. I hope that her hard work and achievements will
inspire many others!
"Hi. I have been doing Oxycise! for 10 days, I love it. I have so much
energy. My muscles, usually tight and sore are so much looser. I have a
back injury from a car accident and sometimes it makes my legs hurt, but
this week the pain is so much better and I can even run down the stairs
now ( I have not done that in a while). My ability to deal with stress
is much improved and instead of dragging myself out of bed in the
mornings I wake up limber and energized and ready to start the day. It
used to take me about an hour before I felt awake enough to do anything
(shower included). I have also seen a change in my waist line and thighs
and hips, also some in my face! I am so excited. I am a size 28/30, and
would desperately like to go to at least a 12, I know it will take time
but I believe I have found the solution. I also swim 3 to 4 days a week
and have started Oxycise! breathing while I swim."
June 6, 2004
"Hi Julie,
No problem sharing. I have been emailing all my friends and family to
check out Oxycise! In the first week I lost a grand total (and I checked
it 2x) from 7 measured places 12.25 inches, I was in shock! I was hoping
for maybe 4 inches total. I have found that if I do Oxycise! before bed
I sleep so much better and wake up so energized I can literally bounce
out of bed, not something I have ever done! My husband likes that I have
the spark, or pep back in my personality. I have also noticed that my
face is much thinner! Yeah! I Have prayed for something like this for so
long."
June 12, 2004
"...I am so amazed this week I lost another 8.5 inches that is 20.75
inches in 2 weeks, my face looks so much thinner and I feel and look so
much younger! ( I am only 28 but now I look like I did when I was 22)."
July 1, 2004
"Hello, My one month results are astounding. I measured from 7 places
and lost 26 inches that is an average of 3.7 inches from each spot. I am
simply amazed! I did realize last night after reading the newsletter,
that I was not breathing correctly, I kept my abs tight the whole time,
I guess I thought I could work them harder and get better results, well,
let's see how I do when I do it right."
July 05, 2004
"...I measured again this week. I measure every Friday. I lost another
6.25 inches! They are coming off so easy. By just breathing right I lost
3.25 more inches than the week before. God has been so good to lead me
to Oxycise! and to bless my results. My husband who is 6'4" and barely
200 with a 32 inch waist has started to do the Oxycise! breathing while
he is driving (he works in the oil field and drives a lot.) and it is
helping him to stay awake, when he has put in a long day and still has
to drive back into town. My adorable 5 yr old does the whole 15 min now
and when she is done she comes down and says, " I did my Oxycise and
boy, do I feel GREAT!" Oxycise! has been so amazing for me and my
family. I got my mom to start it as well, she bought the book and I
loaned her my intro video so she could see how it works, and if she
hasn't bought a video by Christmas then I will get one for her. My
sister even wants to do it with my mom."
Michelle, congratulations on your fabulous results, and thank you for
being the inspiration of this week's newsletter! Please keep us posted
on your continuing Success Story!
"Hello Julie,
I took advantage of the buy-one, get-one-free offer a while back and
bought my mother EDI ["Easy Does It"] Level 1 and "Buns and Thighs 2"
for me. She was doing the Weight Watchers diet and walking her treadmill
for 45 minutes every day at the time. She said she needed something else
in her routine so I suggested Oxycise! Since we live 2600 miles away
from each other, I couldn't lend mine to her, so I took a chance that
she would enjoy EDI. Well, she really enjoyed it and said she was going
to have to have another tape so she wouldn't get bored doing the same
one everyday. Boy, was that a hint? Well, Mother's Day was a few weeks
away so I ordered EDI L2 and L3. I sent her L2 and kept L3 for her
birthday in June. She fell in love with that too. I talked to her last
night and she sounded great. Usually when we talk she sounds like she's
out of breath. Well, not anymore. She said other people have noticed the
improvement too. She has asthma, so when she dances or walks her
treadmill she has had to use the inhaler, but when she Oxycises, she
doesn't have to use it. Obviously Oxycise! has improved her breathing
capabilities. She even has her tap dance teacher interested in Oxycise!
now. She told me there was a down side. She said she had gained three
pounds. I told her she was probably gaining muscle. I asked how her
clothes fit and she said fine. I told her to take her measurements and
keep a close eye on those and not to worry about the scales at this
point. She said that I could be right because when she bought a bra the
other day she had gone down a whole size. By the way, that didn't bother
her! Well, there you have it, Julie...another happy customer."
MICHELLE'S FRUIT SMOOTHIE RECIPE
"Here is a great smoothie idea.
"I take fresh squeezed orange juice ( usually 4 to 5 oranges), frozen
bananas and frozen strawberries. I freeze the bananas in slices and
buy frozen strawberries if fresh are not on sale
"More frozen fruit than juice makes for a thicker smoothie, for thinner
smoothies use more juice Totally natural and way delicious."
Lisa, who says Oxycise! helped her lose 54 pounds and 3 sizes in 6
months,
shared some thoughts about "sticking with it":
"I guess as far as sticking with it goes, I would add that there are
many days where I'm exhausted from waking up early and running around
after my daughter all morning and I think I'd rather relax during her
nap and not exercise. But then I remind myself that it's ONLY 15
minutes, and that I always feel energized and ready to face the rest of
the day after I Oxycise!, and that if I put it off for 1 day, I'm more
likely to put if off
the next day as well. I worked too hard to go backwards now!"
Last week a new customer wrote:
"Dear Julie,
I have the basic Oxycise! set and have watched it. I 'breathed' along
with it the one time.
"I am paralyzed with fear that I won't be able to breathe the correct
way to see results. Therefore, I haven't even tried the exercises. I was
encouraged by the lady in today's newsletter who said she had seen
results even when NOT breathing correctly.
"Please encourage me. Please help me to know that I am holding my
stomach correctly."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My reply to her included the following thoughts, which I hope will be
helpful to others who are feeling a little unsure about getting started:
Don't be afraid of failing. Just BREATHE! Breathing deeply, even if you
don't do every step perfectly, is good for you and is an amazing
stress-reliever all by itself!
The best way to get better at doing Oxycise! is to do Oxycise! every
day. The more you do it, the more effective you will become --and the
more powerful your breathing will be. There is really no magical formula
-- just relax and breathe in deeply, as if you are taking a big drink of
cool water. Think of taking in as much air as you can. It should feel
good and relaxed and almost peaceful.
Many people are so used to shallow breathing that they don't know what
it is like to take a full breath. Laying down on your back and breathing
in and out deeply and slowly can help you get the feeling of "deep down"
breathing.
So just relax and breathe in deeply when you inhale. Then practice
tightening your abs (AFTER the inhale) and breathing out with power. The
"Lift" step is simply a matter of tightening your abdominal muscles --
the same as if you were going to cough -- but practice KEEPING the
muscles tight. Keep your abdominal muscles tight as you do the exhale.
Ditto for the 3 extra puffs.
The hardest step is tightening your abs and taking in 3 extra little
sniffs of air at the same time. So don't worry if you don't "get it" all
at once. Just keep trying.
If you are really concentrating on learning and performing each step of
the breathing, it may be hard to focus on doing body positions at the
same time. So I would suggest practicing the breathing alone for a few
days, or even weeks. Just pick a few simple positions, or lie on the
floor, and focus on breathing in and out deeply. Try "compressing" the
air and tightening up your abs on the exhales. This alone can give you a
great workout!
As your abdominal muscles get stronger, you can challenge yourself to
tighten more and more as you exhale... and then you can try "scooping"
in (as if you are trying to touch your belly-button to your spine). You
will be able to feel your mid-section becoming stronger the more you
practice doing Oxycise!
Perfection doesn't happen overnight. So just breathe and ENJOY it and
keep practicing. The more you do Oxycise!, the more natural it will
feel, and the more effective it will become.
"I started gaining weight as I got older and with the arrival of my
second child (adopted). Pretty soon I had gained 15 lbs. I had never
dieted before, so I tried lots of programs. I failed at every single one
of them. I got exercise tapes: Leslie Sansone, Buns and Thighs of Steel,
and even The Firm. The problem was it didn't hold my interest and pretty
soon they were put away somewhere. I was looking on the Internet for
exercise programs when I came across Oxycise! I was skeptical, but I got
the tapes and measured -- YIKES !!! I started seeing inch loss right
away and then weight loss too. I lost my original measurement sheet but
I know my inch loss has been significant. I have lost 3 inches in my
waist and hips and 2 in the chest and thigh. I have also lost 7 lbs and
it stays off. I look at my scale in disbelief. The other day I ran into
a couple of people I hadn't seen in awhile and they said I looked good
and asked if I had lost weight. YES!! Thank you, Jill, for coming up
with a program that I have no trouble sticking with because I have seen
results."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the end of each big, relaxed inhale, close your throat in order to
keep the air in your lungs from escaping. (Imagine opening the door of
your house all the way, to let in a roomful of cool, fresh air... then
think of closing the door to "hold" that air inside your house.)
After the inhale you will immediately "Lift" (tightening your
midsection) and simultaneously take in 3 little extra sniffs of air.
Open your throat just enough to allow air to come in, but don't let any
air escape back out. (Think of keeping your hand on the "doorknob", and
opening the door just a crack, to let in a little breeze, then closing
it again... three times.)
Try to do the three extra sniffs even if your lungs seem totally full
after your inhale.
*A* Make Oxycise! Part of Your Weight Loss Strategy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many people have discovered that simply adding Oxycise! to their
lifestyle on a consistent, regular basis has allowed them to lose weight
and keep it off. But in cases where excess calorie intake is a major
part of the weight problem, it may be best to combine Oxycise! with a
gradual reduction in calorie intake, and gradual improvement in eating
habits, in order to produce successful and permanent weight loss. Take
an honest look at the causes of your own weight problem:
Is the main cause of extra weight a gradual decline in your activity
level?
Do you simply not get enough exercise?
Are your eating habits unhealthy?
Could excess weight be due to a combination of these factors?
If your eating habits are already healthy, but you just don't get the
exercise you need, then Oxycise! alone can help solve your weight
problem. Oxycise! has been proven to increase oxygen intake, burn extra
calories, tone and strengthen the muscles, and improve flexibility. Many
people have told us that Oxycise! has been the "answer to their prayers"
for weight loss and improved fitness.
If your overall calorie intake exceeds your body's needs, then you will
probably need to make some adjustments in order to lose weight
successfully. Making small, healthy changes over a period of time is the
best way to accomplish this. For example:
Eating one helping instead of two
Eating smaller portions
Eating more slowly
"Listening" to your body: "Am I really hungry?" (or just tired, bored,
stressed, etc?)
Choosing fresh berries for dessert instead of berry pie
Choosing a salad for lunch instead of fried foods
"Brown Bagging" your lunch, instead of eating out
Buying healthy snacks at the store instead of chips, cookies, or candy
Switching from whole milk to 2% (or switching from 2% milk to 1%... or
skim)
We make MANY small "food decisions" every day, and those decisions can
add up to real difference in calories, one way or the other, after a
week's time.
What about someone who is doing Oxycise! faithfully, but not losing
weight? First, don't rely on your scale as an indicator of success. It's
possible for your body to shrink in size (due to loss of fat) and yet
weigh more (due to a gain of muscle over a period of time). So be sure
to measure carefully and if possible, monitor your body fat percentage
every month or two. Second, take an honest look at your eating habits.
Are unhealthy food choices, or eating-when-stressed, or compulsive
eating habits cancelling out the calorie deficit you are trying to
create by exercising more? Or could you do Oxycise! more often, or more
consistently, or increase your calorie output by adding more energy to
your workouts? (Tighten your muscles more, breathe with more "gusto,"
and do extra reps during the day?)
A weight problem that is the result of combined factors -- such as too
many calories and not enough activity -- will respond best to combined
efforts! Make Oxycise! part of your solution!
"I have had 2 C-sections with my children and thought I would never have
a tight stomach again. I had been doing 100 situps per day with little
or no results. I ordered the Oxycise! package after seeing it on a late
night info-mercial. I was very skeptical but figured $29.99 was not that
much and there was a money back guarantee. I received the package in the
mail and started the Level One workout twice a day. After 1 week,
someone at work said, 'Your stomach is really getting flatter, the
situps must be working.' I proceeded to tell her about Oxycise! She was
so impressed she ordered it also. She has since moved out of town, and I
am not sure of her results. My mother-in-law and sister-in-law have just
begun the program.
"I feel like a new person. I have been doing the Level One workout twice
a day for six weeks. I have lost 3 inches off my hips, 2.5 inches off my
waist, and 2 inches off my thighs. I look and feel great. I have not
tucked anything in since I had my first child 5 years ago. Now I tuck
all my tops in and belt my pants. Thank you very much for this program."

*C* The "Exercise Difference" in Weight Loss
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
by Greg Landry
Losing weight and maintaining that loss can be very difficult. However,
both can be made considerably easier with regular exercise.
If you're interested in losing fat, your objective is to create a
daily caloric deficit. For example, If you're consuming 1700 calories
per day, and expending 2000 calories per day, your caloric deficit is
300 calories. Losing a pound of fat requires a deficit of 3500 calories.
So, to lose two pounds per week would require a daily deficit of 1000
calories.
So, if you'd like to increase your daily caloric deficit, you have two
options;
To decrease your caloric intake by eating fewer calories, or...
To increase your caloric expenditure via more activity / exercise.
However, you cannot decrease your daily caloric intake much lower than
1200 to 1500 or so without potentially creating health and metabolism
problems.
In fact, many people's metabolism (basal metabolic rate) is so slow from
years of inactivity and dieting, that they are only burning fewer than
1500 calories per day. Without exercise, they would have to decrease
their daily caloric intake to unhealthy levels to lose weight. And, a
caloric intake that's too low only creates more metabolism problems and
a vicious cycle of more weight gain.
So, the only remaining factor in the deficit equation is caloric
expenditure through increased activity / exercise.
The good news is that you can substantially increase your caloric
expenditure. For example, if you're currently walking for 30 minutes two
days per week, over a period of several weeks you can increase your
walking to 60 minutes per day, six to seven days per week and begin
weight training for 30 minutes three days per week.
So, in this example, you would increase your monthly exercise minutes
from about 240 to 1530. Plus, in addition to the calories that you're
expending during exercise, you would also substantially increase the
number of calories you're burning 24 hours-a-day, yes, you'll even burn
more calories while you're sleeping because you've fired-up your basal
metabolic rate. You can't beat that, can you?
Here's another VERY important reason to exercise while you're
restricting calories and trying to lose weight. You tend to lose muscle
tissue from any muscle that you're not using while you're restricting
calories. You've heard it - use it or lose it. And, there are three main
consequences to losing muscle;
Your metabolism (basal metabolic rate) decreases causing you to burn
*fewer* calories 24 hours-a-day and causing the maintenance of your
weight loss to be very difficult.
Your muscles get flabby and mushy.
Your are weaker and become fatigued more easily.
That's enough to get anybody to start exercising. Get movin'!
