We have not done any official research on asthma
or emphysema, however we have received comments back from respiratory therapists
who have indicated that the Oxycise! breathing methods are very healthy and
beneficial for their patients. In addition, we have sold many Oxycise! kits to
people with respiratory problems including asthma, emphysema, allergies, and
smoking, who have found that this is an aerobic activity which they are able to
do.

"I have asthma. As an infant, my parents
moved the family to Colorado as I couldn't live in North Dakota with having
asthma. Although the move to Colorado saved my life, I still struggled with the
difficulty in breathing. I do not often have to take medication, however I
wanted to share my thoughts since I started the Oxycise! program.
"Oxycise! has made it easier for me to
breathe as a whole, and after about 1-2 weeks of doing the workout, I noticed
the breaths I was taking were not only easier, but deeper. I wasn't coughing as
I was trying to inhale. I am at the computer a lot during the day and I find
myself reaching deeper, instead of being afraid to breathe deeply, because I
didn't want to begin to cough or wheeze".

"Since beginning Oxycise! I feel like I can
breathe for the first time in years. I had used an inhaler four times a day to
control my asthma, and now I find I don't need it at all!"

"I've done aerobics, stretch and tone, and
meditation, and always I felt dizzy with the heavy breathing (I have asthma).
But Oxycise! is wonderful. I can easily fill my lungs and I feel more energized.
I never dreamed I would meet you and find this wonderful way to take control of
my body. Oh, thank you so much!"
Anne Roche,
Boston, Massachusetts

"Dear Jill
I have been doing Oxycise for about a week. I'm asthmatic but have not needed to
use my inhaler nearly as often as before I started the program. I've been trying
to do Level One twice a day. It is a wonderful program."
Thanks

"Hi Jill,
Thank you for Oxycise! I do the tape before I go to bed and sleep so much better
than I used to. The breathing technique is very similar to the exercises
recommended for my asthma. I learned about Oxycise! on QVC and I am planning to
buy Level 2 as soon as possible."
Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Terri in California

"My name is Teresa, I live in central South
Dakota on a farm. I have tried Weight Watchers, Redux, high protein, grapefruit
diet and numerous pills and powders. None of which worked for any length of
time. I started Oxycise! about six months ago. I had 50 pounds to lose. To date
I have lost 35 pounds, 11-1/4 inches. I have found that Oxycise! is very easy to
do especially since I have asthma. I have noticed that my breathing has gotten
much better and I don't have to resort to my inhaler near as much as in the
past. My daily routine consists of doing O! at least once a day if not twice and
drinking about 5 liters of water. This is my only exercise that I do. I used to
walk 4 miles a day but as the South Dakota winters prove to be too cold for my
lungs I had to find something else. As for my diet I really just watch my
portions. I don't deny myself anything but I do quit eating totally after 7 pm.
I sleep better."
Thanks and good luck,
Teresa Eschenbaum
South Dakota

"I started at the end of February and have
lost almost 20 pounds by now and have kept the weight off! (this NEVER happened
before with other exercise) BUT, even though 20 pounds isn't a huge weight loss,
there are so many other benefits of Oxycise that have kicked in...I've lost
inches, have more energy, a MUCH better outlook on life, and as a side benefit
that was a complete surprise -- my asthma is not nearly as bad as it used to
be!"

"Your program has helped very much. If I
find myself with mild asthma attacks, I use the Oxycise! techniques, which I've
found to help greatly."

"...I have had chronic bronchitis since the
age of four. At least that is when it was diagnosed. Prior to that they thought
I had cystic fibrosis. I have spent my entire life not being able to even do so
much as walk up a flight of steps without going into a coughing fit. I have
severe scar tissue on the bottom lobes of my lungs and have been hospitalized
several times for breathing difficulties. I must (and I mean as a medical
necessity in life or death) see a respiratory therapist every three months. If
my lungs deteriorate much further I will need a transplant. For years my
therapist has been prescribing a regimen of breathing exercises that are similar
to the one used in Oxycise! The one she recommended included taking a deep
breath and then sniffing in air. There was no pelvic tilt or pulling in of the
stomach. Also there was a long slow exhale. I never did these exercises because
they caused me to cough and I just plain felt stupid.
"Too late to make a long story short, I
ordered the O! tapes to keep me company while I did the breathing my therapist
recommended. I switched to Jill's method but without the gusto after the first
day. I have been Oxycising since January. Just yesterday, [my boyfriend]
and I climbed the Cape May lighthouse. All 100+ steps. I only had to stop twice.
"For me Oxycise! has been a miracle. I can't
wait to see my therapist and show her how well I am doing.."

"Just thought that I would tell you that I
quit smoking for good because the deep breathing has taken the place of the
smoke that used to fill my precious lungs. I have absolutely no desire to pick
up this filthy habit again.
"Also, the deep breathing has caused my
lungs to throw off the residual tar and although I cough up this phlegm from
time to time, I thank God that my lungs are correcting the damage I have done
for so many years. Also, I am able to hold notes longer when I sing."
THIS OXYCISE! IS GREAT.
Thank you so much.
Janice

"Now I know I am benefiting from Oxycise!
Last year I visited my son and his family in Salt Lake City. We had to walk in
the cold about two blocks, and when we reached our destination, I had to sit
down, I was wheezing so badly. In fact my daughter-in-law said she had noticed
that I was wheezing even when resting at the house. I started Oxycise! -- that
was a gift from my daughter. I have seen many benefits, but now
I know it has helped me. I went to Salt Lake City this Christmas, and we did a
lot of walking outside in the cold air. Not a wheeze could be heard. I know the
deep breathing has helped my lungs."

"I thought I'd write about an interesting
result I've gotten from Oxycising that may be of interest to others: Much to my
regret, I'm a smoker (trying to quit) and recently, at my request, had the
doctor's office give me a breathing test on a Spirometer - this involves blowing
into a machine that measures the lung capacity output. Typically, every smoker
has some degree of emphysema, so I was worried that having smoked for 40 years I
was in trouble - much to my surprise and delight, my test showed me to be just
about at the point of never having smoked (98.9% lung capacity). My doctor was
astounded and wrote 'amazing results' on the printout."

Comments from a respiratory therapist in our
Message Room:
"As a respiratory therapist, I can only
praise Oxycise! My mother ordered the first tape and I was very leery of it's
ability to promote weight loss. I finally decided to watch it and was impressed
with Jill's breathing techniques. She is doing exactly what we train COPDer's
(people with emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma). Because of their
diseases, they have forgotten how to breathe properly and when short of breath,
they use accessory muscles (those around the shoulder area and neck). The
diaphragm barely moves and they rapidly shallow breathe. We also teach them
pursed lip breathing, sort of like what Jill does, in through the nose and out
through the lips. It creates a back pressure that helps to keep the air sacs in
the lungs open longer, improving lung volume and oxygen/carbon dioxide exchange.
It is true, that we are trained at a young age to suck in our gut and begin to
breathe improperly. Our posture is poor, we slouch over we sit on couches and
lazy boys which compromise our breathing and compress our spine and vital
organs. Breathing is living..."
