"I Oxycise! whenever I can and have been doing fairly well with that lately. One notable positive I thought I'd pass on...Softball season has started - a longtime enjoyable activity for me. However, especially as I've been pushing 40 over the past few years, the enjoyment has been tempered by numerous aches and pains and, in particular, back and neck injury. "Hello all, I'm Barbara's husband. [See Barbara Schultz] Yes, I watched Barbara do Oxycise! for a year with considerable skepticism. I had seen her lose weight, but from my perspective 15 pounds was hardly losing weight. But she did keep it up and seemed to be fitter and that's what turned me around. Both Barbara and I have been taking Tae Kwondo for about three years and are now almost red belts (two levels below black belt). Tae Kwondo had helped me get in better shape e.g., flexibility. I also bicycle to work in the summer and generally drop five pounds every year, but then Christmas comes, and I'm sure you know the rest. So I started Oxycise! to get fitter with not much expectation of losing weight. Well, as Barbara has mentioned, I've lost almost 30 pounds (I seem to be at a plateau, but I am not in a hurry).
"I have to say it is great to be a thinner person. I have had to put seven new holes in my belt; I [went from] something like a comfortable fit at size 40 to a slightly snug size 34. My flexibility has improved greatly. At Tae Kwondo Class the acclaimed consensus is that I am the most improved adult in terms of flexibility. During our stretch warm-up I am able to stretch my side kick above my head. I have also beaten my record in bicycling home and am feeling fitter than I've felt for years.
"I was skeptical of some aspects of the breathing at first. Being a natural deep breather, I wasn't sure I wanted to try to 'sniff' in three times while I was tightening my abdomen. I think it took me some time to actually tone my abs enough that I could start doing it properly. I twigged on tucking the pelvis in, and lifting the abs. For the first two months all I could do was generally tighten my abs and hold my breath. Now however, I can feel the isotonic tension as I tighten and breathe....After about four months, I now feel that I have the breathing down pretty well, and am able to focus on making the positions more and more challenging.
"My experience of losing weight involved a focus on eating sensibly. I can't say I dieted, but I have been purposefully eating less. However, I have not denied myself in any extreme way. Oxycise seems to make reducing my eating and eating more sensibly relatively easy.
"In all, Oxycise! is great. It's only 20 minutes start to finish, no special equipment, I can do it every day (or almost 5/6 out of 7) comfortably, regardless of the weather. "Well, where to start? Around my 34th birthday my kidney decided to quit. After six years of suffering, I received a kidney from my sister, Florence, and started my road to recovery. My weight went down as the years passed, but I could never get my energy back or the fat off my middle. But this May of 2000, my wife and I were watching the program on TV and I called about ordering the program. May 23rd was the day I started the Oxycise! breathing program. I started with the basic positions, doing 30 reps a day for 30 days. It took me a week to understand the breathing technique, but once I got it my energy went through the roof.
