The kidney is a remarkably intricate organ that acts as the filter system of the body. Just as important, your kidneys also work to control blood pressure and keep the whole body in a state of chemical balance. The kidneys regulate the substances, helpful and harmful, that float around in the body and keeps them within very tight parameters so the body can function as a well-oiled machine.
This month is National Kidney Health Month, so we want to bring you 4 things that can improve your Kidney Health:
- Water – One of the best things you can do to improve kidney health is to stay hydrated. Water helps to flush out toxins and other waste in the body and in the kidney. It’s best to drink smaller amounts, consistently, throughout the day rather than large amounts of water a few times a day. Drinking large amounts of water can add unnecessary pressure to the kidney.
- Sunshine – When sunlight touches the skin, light sensitive receptor cells are activated to produce the active form of vitamin D. Vitamin D has many benefits in the body, the main benefits being: cancer prevention, immune system enhancement, bone health, and regulation of phosphorus and calcium levels (which is important in kidney disease).
- Fruits & Vegetables – Fruits and vegetables contain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that are important for kidney function: watermelon, raspberry, celery, parsley, cucumber, carrot, strawberries, peach, and beetroot. Juicing can be another great way to get these vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.
- Oxycise! – Oxycise! helps lower blood pressure, reduces fluid retention, improves circulation, reduces stress, improves blood sugar, among many other things that can help kidney health. Weight reduction reduces the body’s blood volume and therefore the kidneys don’t need to filter so much blood. Improved circulation nourishes the kidneys. Continue your daily Oxycise! for optimal kidney health!
Chances are, you are already doing most of these things in your daily life. This month, choose one of these that you aren’t doing and try to implement it in your daily life.
