Dear Oxycise! Community,
We are thrilled to announce the winner of our “Empower You” Challenge: Cristina Christensen!
Cristina’s dedication to her health and well-being is truly commendable. She was kind enough to share her Oxycise! story with us:
“First, I must thank you for the winning prize for the Challenge! I am delighted!
”My Oxycise story goes back to the late 1990s. However I do not remember how I learned of it. It must have been a good thing! I bought all of Jill’s Oxycise DVDs through ‘Buns and Thighs 2’. She was the only teacher that I knew of. For a number of years I used the DVDs religiously. (I still have all of them).
”I did not weigh myself but did do body measurements. This was quite successful for my body shape and feeling and being healthy. I love Oxycising! I hate to admit it but I was a smoker during this time. In a physical exam the Dr. put me through an extensive respiratory exam. To his astonishment, I passed with flying colors. I knew it was because of Oxycising. Yay! ( I since have quit smoking cold turkey -Yay!!!)
I have had a total hip replacement. Of course the Dr. ordered PT, and I was also doing Oxycise intermittently. Only with Jill’s DVDs.
”Intermittently through the years are the unfortunate words, but I never stopped all together until I had a double-hernia operation. I was still walking a mile or two, but finally decided it was time to Oxycise again and paid for the on line classes. I love using my IPad in the house or outside on the patio!
”Fun happenings: I do quite a bit of House and Dog sitting and there is always a dog acting very concerned and staying close by while I’m in the breathing /positions. Fun!
”I am pleasantly surprised at all of the new classes online! Currently, I have an Oxycising Buddy who lives in another state. We text daily and are motivating each other, trading information on favorite sessions. Due to my age, and the history of hip replacement and the double hernia surgery, I find doing floor / mat work difficult. My favorite workouts used to be Jill’s Buns and Thighs but I am finding the chair and standing workouts are less of a challenge. For my age, I am in great shape. My labs are all within Normal Limits and I take no prescription medications. Not bad for 80 years!
”I am hoping by re-committing to (as Jill says) 5 times a week or more, that my hip area will relax and sitting cross legged on the floor wont be a problem. I haven’t been challenging myself but plan to work into it gradually.
”One thing I will say about positions I must modify, I never stop doing the Oxycise Breath. I know it is the breathing and tightening together that does the work but getting the oxygen to the cells must never stop!
”I am so grateful to Jill for introducing me to Oxycise almost 30 years ago. Though I lost momentum for periods of time, I always found it again and I know these years have been healthier for me because of Oxycise.”
We are so proud to have Cristina as a valued member of our Oxycise! family and to see the impact our workouts have had on her life over the years.
