At the end of each big, relaxed inhale, close your throat in order to keep the air in your lungs from escaping. Imagine opening the door of your house all the way, to let in a roomful of cool, fresh air… then think of closing the door to “hold” that air inside your house.
After the inhale you will immediately “Lift” (pull in and lift your lower abdomen) and simultaneously take in 3 little extra sniffs of air. Open your throat just enough to allow air to come in, but don’t let any air escape back out. Think of keeping your hand on the doorknob, and opening the door just a crack, to let in a little breeze, then closing it again… three times.
Try to do the three extra sniffs even if your lungs seem totally full after your inhale – and remember that they should feel totally full after the inhale, don’t save room for the three sniffs. It’s ok if you can’t get any more air in with the sniffs, the action of trying is great for your abs and expanding your lung capacity.
Perfection doesn’t happen overnight. So just breathe and ENJOY it and keep practicing. The more you do Oxycise!, the more natural it will feel, and the more effective it will become.
