I lost 41 pounds
Lori gained 50 pounds during a difficult pregnancy and went from 140 to 190 lbs. Three months after her baby’s birth she still weighed 190 lbs. She began using Oxycise! and has taken off 41 pounds.

“I injured my shoulder about 3 years ago. Several times…in the same spot. I fell and hit it several times. I could not raise my arm because it hurt so much and was very stiff. When I first began to Oxycise! I would have to lift my right arm with my other hand, if I was doing a position that required raising that arm. If I reached for anything in my cupboard I would have to put my left hand on my right elbow and help that arm down or I would drop whatever I was retrieving.
“After about two weeks of Oxycising, I could move my right arm up and down with no pain. This was no fluke and no coincidence. It was great to move my arm up and down after three years of not being able to do it. I have had no problems for a year now, since I have been Oxycising, but as I mentioned before, I was very surprised when it started stiffening up again and hurting after several days of no Oxycising. “What a joy to hear from you. I had intended to write a couple weeks from now, March 15th to be exact, and share our first O! anniversary with you. Yes, we’re still at it and doing well. There was a period of several weeks when I was unable to exercise, and I really missed it. I noticed the pick up in energy and muscle tone again almost immediately on starting again. Also, of course, it’s so much easier to maintain a stable weight. This came in handy over the Christmas holidays. I couldn’t resist some of the special goodies.
“Roger and I intend to stay on this program as long as we are able. The benefits for both of us are enormous, and it’s so simple to do. We alternate Level One through Level Four. Levels Three and Four are especially good for my legs. Roger just breathes and does those reps he can comfortably do. Roger had another birthday since I last wrote. He’s 83.”

My neck is smooth and there is NO double chin!
“Hi – I started doing Oxycise! Level One about three weeks ago. I did the level 1 for two weeks and now have being doing Level 2 for one week. I haven’t lost any weight but my pants are looser. But the best part is my face! I was beginning to have a little pad of fat under my jaw and my neck was getting wrinkled (I’ll be 58 in three weeks – eek!). “My name is Teri Havener and I am an AFAA certified fitness instructor. I have personally worked out for 20 years and have worked in the fitness industry 10 years. I currently run the fitness department at On Top of the World, a large retirement community in Ocala, Florida. We have 25 pieces of Nautilus equipment, 10 treadmills, bunch of bikes, some free weights and a large array of fitness classes to chose from including; Tai Chi, Aquasize, 3 different levels of aerobics classes, etc.

After the initial training, they had 3 opportunities daily to view the Level One workout tape. I usually do the class with them and help with the cueing. Some were discouraged by the quick pace and felt they couldn’t keep up. I encouraged them to keep trying and not to worry about getting every little sniff or puff.

I am very pleased to share with you the results of our Oxycise! experiment.
“Oxycise! experiment? What’s Oxycise?” Please allow me to explain.
Oxycise! is a new exercise program that combines a deep breathing pattern with relatively easy isometric, toning and stretching exercise. It’s a 15-minute program to be done daily. The exercise positions are standing, sitting on the floor and using the wall. The positions may be modified so you don’t have to get on the floor. There isn’t any aerobic activity involved—no running, jumping or constant movement. The idea is to increase the oxygen level in your system to speed up your metabolism, resulting in weight loss.
The advertisements made some incredible claims: “36 lbs. loss in two months, 15 lbs in three months.” One woman claims to have lost 142 lbs. Jill Johnson, the creator of the program, claims to have lost 45 lbs. in six months.
I was skeptical, but residents kept asking me about the program. I decided, let’s put it to the test. I trained almost 150 people to do the program through November. We weighed and measured everybody. On Feb. 6 we weighed and measured again. Unfortunately, only about 30 came back for the second measuring. Some chose to do the program at home. I’m not aware how they have progressed. Weight loss was not dramatic over all. Almost all lost at least a couple pounds, some more. I suppose that’s not too bad considering this experiment was conducted over the holiday season. I was more impressed by the inches lost, particularly in the lower abdomen and hip area. Even more impressive were some of the other health improvements. Everyone seems to agree that they have more energy. Some commented that they didn’t feel as good on days they skipped Oxycise! People with sleeping disorders or difficulties completely eliminated the problem or saw great improvement.
One gal with lymphodema saw a lot of improvement. Swelling in her arm had gone down. Her doctor wanted to know what she was doing. So, she demonstrated some of the Oxycise! program. A test revealed that her blood oxygen level had gone up. Scientific proof!
I listened as they talked about their firmer abdomens, improved posture, flexibility and range of motion of their joints. Someone said that her chiropractor noticed that the shape of her body was changing and wanted to know what she was doing. Singers and those with breathing problems were able to get more air. Someone else said she used to get cramps in her calves all the time. Not any more! It made me realize I used to get a cramp in my left food during a certain stretch. Not any more! Several people said their blood pressure went down. One man told me his blood glucose level had gone down from 130 to 103. Also, his cholesterol came down from 220 to 202. This has been the best report he has gotten from his doctor in years. Wow! I was amazed at what I was hearing. I asked the group if they were interested in continuing the program. A resounding “yes” came forth.
Husband just commented on what a curvy waist I now have
“I have been doing oxycise now for nearly 2 years in that time I have increased energy and flexibility, a lot more mobile at only 54 years old then when I started, I felt like a 90 year old and was having trouble keeping up with our grandson. I have also noticed improved skin conditions and a firmer face.
“I realized that I was not breathing out as forcefully as I should have been doing. Jill was right I was actually pushing the abdomen out on the inhale which made it hard then to pull it up and in on the 3 sniffs and exhale. This in turn seemed to make the stomach muscle stick out and so I always had a stomach. Now I really feel the stomach tighten as I forcefully breath out. Wow what a difference it makes when you do things properly and of course I have made a real conscious effort to eat only in the A and B group as discussed in the Fuel for Success Book.
“What I did was to practice breathing with my hands on the lower rib cage so I was filling up the lungs and abdomen without pushing the lower abdomen out. With this breathing technique the lower abdomen just naturally extended with yummy oxygen and thus I was able to successfully draw the abdomen in when it was required.
“I am now experiencing a much flatter stomach which is making me feel younger.
“I also went back to using the Level 1 DVD which I am finding the whole body is firming up especially the torso. Husband has only just commented on what a curvy waist I now have and how am looking quite taut.

All these changes and just from breathing?
First I want to thank you for developing a program that makes sense and helps those of us who can’t run and jump and otherwise do strenuous workouts. I am like all the others out there who have been fighting the weight battle for so long but now that I have reached my 40’s it means more to me to get my health in order than it is to get into a skimpy bikini!
But in just two weeks I have noticed some major health changes. I have migraines before I start my period and this time, I just did Level One and before I even finished it my headache was gone. Then I noticed – no more PMS symptoms! No bloating, water retention, backache or breast tenderness. How can this be? My jeans fit even better than ever. They were so tight that when I took them off I had welt marks from the side seams! Now they are loose! I even noticed my appetite diminishing. Food has become an afterthought rather than my prime activity for the day. I also work a job where I’m on my feet all day and the last two months I have suffered heel pain that just wouldn’t go away. I guess my weight was finally taking it’s toll on my feet and now the pain is gone.
All these changes and just from breathing? I am amazed and more motivated than ever. The little things thrill me – feeling my clothing get looser; not having a bra strap that binds and cuts into my flesh, being able to bend down from my knees and get back up with no strain.
