If you’re finding the “Lift” to be difficult, you’re not alone! It might make you feel better to know that the Lift combined with the 3 sniffs is SUPPOSED to be difficult!
It’s actually an internal isotonic exercise. This is what makes it so effective at toning your abs — your diaphragm is trying to contract (as you take in 3 more sniffs) AGAINST the power of your tightened ab muscles (the Lift). The opposing action of your diaphragm vs. your abs is what will work wonders for toning your entire midsection, front and back.
Remember to take in all the oxygen you can, THEN lift, tilt, tighten, and squeeze! Pull in and lift your lower abdomen, tilt your pelvic area in, tighten your glutes, and squeeze between your legs (like a Kegel exercise for ladies).
Yes, it’s challenging – but that’s why it works. Remember to practice, and keep up your skills by reviewing the Basic Breath in the book or video from time to time no matter how long you’ve been doing Oxycise. You might notice something you missed the first time around, or a step you could be putting more effort into.
Keep on breathin’!
