QUESTION: When I try to breathe deeply I take longer than Jill or Aubrey — so my question is whether I should “try to keep up” with the rate of the videos, or go with my natural rate?
ANSWER: It’s alright to breathe at any speed that’s comfortable. The important aspect is to breathe deeply and powerfully, and if the speed in the video feels rushed to you and cuts you off before your lungs are full – by all means, slow it down.
EXTRA TIP: If you find the speed too fast, online members can adjust the playback speed of their workout by selecting the gear icon in the bottom right corner of the video when in full-screen mode, then selecting the desired speed adjustment (i.e. 0.75x). You can also pause your video at any time to catch up.
We also have some workouts that move a little slower than others. The Easy Does It Series moves at a slower pace (it’s not just for seniors!), as well as the O! Down Low Series, to allow you to get all your air in and out. If you like the quicker speed, try our Standard Series, or O! Pumped.
Whichever workout you choose, and whatever speed you move, just remember to always breathe deeply, filling up on every inhale, and emptying completely on every exhale.
